Behind the Stitch

A tradition traced back to 1937, students at the University of Virginia streak the Lawn—rain, snow, or shine.
With only the moon to light the lawn, students gather at the steps of the Rotunda facing Old Cabell Hall ready to run. Stripped from head to toe, students take their mark and sprint 740ft to the Homer Statue. Making sure to plant a kiss on his backside, streakers circle around and sprint back to grab their clothes, finalizing their celebrated rite of passage.
