Behind the stitch
Considered the GOAT of men's basketball, Michael Jordan has an endless list of achievements—from Rookie of the Year to 6-time NBA Finals champion—paired with an MVP for each year—14-time NBA All-Star to Defensive Player of the Year, and beyond.
Not at the top of the list, and yet recognizable, Jordan brought chewing gum into the arena.
In 1990, Amurol Confections, a subsidiary of Wrigley Company and manufacturer of Big League Chew at the time, approached Jordan to be the face of a new product called "Hang Time." The shredded chewing gum was released in 1991 as a test product in the Chicago area.
Although Hang Time wasn't as successful as the MVP's career, Jordan continued to be an avid fan of bubble gum—specifically, his favorite, watermelon Bubblicious (no association with Hang Time).
