Behind the Stitch
Founded in 1981 by the four Marciano brothers, GUESS brand was associated with their standout denim fashion. The brand's first Marilyn Jean gained attention from stores for its slim-fitting stonewash three-zip ankle style.
Originally from the South of France, the brothers vacationed to Los Angeles and fell in love with the city. Moving to LA and starting GUESS, with headquarters on Olympic Boulevard, the brothers passed a McDonald's billboard featuring its latest slogan:
"Guess what's in our new Big Mac?"
Driving by the billboard every day to the office, the slogan stuck with them—leading to the brand's name and question logo.
