Behind the stitch
A batting average is a go-to stat to measure a baseball player's success at bat, representing the player's ability to hit the ball and reach base. The average is determined by the number of hits over the total at-bats, resulting in a number between .000 and 1.000.
Currently, the average MLB player holds a .250 batting average, with .300 considered to be a "good" hitter.
A perfect 1.000 is most likely met with fewer games played—resulting in fewer opportunities at bat. Knowing Middle Schoolers have no bounds for success, we estimated Lincoln players to have a reasonably "good" .499 average.
